The purpose of the Instrumentation component is to collect the needs concerning instrumentation to fulfil the operational oceanography requirements. The developments are then performed by the partner institutes that are interested in the instrument, taking into account the user needs and their budget constrains.

Profiling floats are an important source of data that are complementary to satellite measurements for ocean circulation modelling. Ifremer has developed the Provor float and adapted it to CORIOLIS needs.
