Data Management Workshop
Brest (France)
3-4-5 Octobre 2000
SUMMARY OF THE OBJECTIVES (Sylvie Pouliquen)
Goal: Build an efficient Argo Data Network
We have to organise the Argo data centre network in order to:
 | Insure good visibility of Argo program and Argo datasets (best dissemination media for
each user: meteorologists, oceanographers, education, fisheries, navies..., comprehensive
analyses). |
 | provide in all data centres all Argo data in REAL TIME (data centres have to serve their
community) |
 | Not duplicate QC (data centres have to QC'd their floats of interest in order to
minimise the global QC effort). |
SUMMARY OF THE OBJECTIVES
Goal: this workshop is the first of a series of workshops
 | We won't solve everything within these three days |
 | We have to agree on the items we are implementing now |

 | We have to define the guidelines to develop the following items. |
 | data exchange |

 | Value added products. May be different from one data centre to another |
ORGANISATION OF EACH DISCUSSION
 | The discussion leader proposes a review of the topic within 15 mn |
 | The end of the review must be a list of questions to be answered during the discussion |
 | The audience can update this list |
 | We will try to deal with these points one after another |
 | During the last 15 mn the leader will summarise the conclusions of the discussion. A
