How does a profiler operate?

Profilers are autonomous platforms that drift at a parking depth (namely 1000 m). Every 10 days, they modify their buoyancy to dive to 2000 m and then come back to the surface measuring temperature and salinity during their ascent . Arrived at the surface, floats transmit their data to shore through satellite communication systems. The data centre which received the data decodes the data, verify their quality and then transmit the data to the two Global Data Centers that provide a unique portal to everybody within 24h from acquisition.
