GLOBAL05 V1.0 configuration
The analysis is performed on
anomalies relative to a monthly climatology (Levitus 98 and Medatlas) and
we consider these anomalies centered.
For each level, the field
and the error associated are calculated on a grid with 1/2 of degree resolution.
The structure functions (X,Y and t) are modeled by Gaussian functions. Two
correlation scales are taken into account: the « long scale » (LS) and
the « meso scale »
(MS).
Combining the variability of
this scales and the data distribution, we have defined 199 areas;
a MS value is associated to each area. The MS is fixed to about 4 Rossby
radius mean for each area and the LS is fixed to 300 km according to the ARGO
scales.
The figure below shows
the MS values. Two examples of the spatial correlation function and the time
correltion function are shown on the figures: a, b and c.
 |
|
One
MS value is fixed for each
area. |
 |
 |
|
2 examples of spatial correlation fonction with respectively MS=20 km et MS=250
km and below: the time correlation function. The analysis uses the black
curve (sum of : 2*MS+LS). |
In order to not take into account measurements from different basins, somes
areas are associated to a mask, for example the area "154" for which the
Mediterranean sea is masked and the area "195" for which the Alantic is masked (all
figures in the document:
cordo-zzz-05-054.pdf).
Every Wednesdays, 4
analysis with the estimation days d, d-7,d-14, d-28 are produced. Each analysis
takes into account the profiles measured within -21/+21 days arround the
estimation date interval.
